Review FigureLabs Credits and Vector Exports Before a Project

Read the current operation costs, inspect the delivered objects and record the review work still required.

FigEditor Team

Reviewing a credit-based figure service requires an operation ledger. Counting attractive outputs alone hides discarded drafts, revisions and export charges. The following worked example shows how to evaluate one four-panel mechanism figure without inventing current plan prices.

Define the job and record each operation

Use two alternative drafts of a conceptual enzyme cycle. Choose one, request three corrections, then export a file for a collaborator. Keep the prompt and rejected draft as well as the selected image.

FigureLabs documentation describes credit use for generation, editing and export. Inspect the live amount before each action. The units below are deliberately hypothetical and are not FigureLabs or FigEditor prices.

OperationCountExample units eachExample subtotal
Initial drafts236
Targeted revisions326
Editable export144
Total6—16

The arithmetic is 2 × 3 + 3 × 2 + 1 × 4 = 16 units for one delivered figure. If all six operations were described as “one image”, the budget would be misleading.

Inspect what the export contains

Try three small edits in the downloaded file: replace one enzyme label, change an arrowhead and move a compartment boundary. Record whether each element is a text object, a path, or part of a raster image.

Do not equate path count with editability. A trace with 6,000 tiny paths may be harder to maintain than a clean background with ten separate labels. If text is outlined, it can scale but cannot be retyped like text.

Evaluate a failure without doubling the job

If an action reports failure, check the provider’s operation history before resubmitting. Record its timestamp, status and balance change. A retry is a new operation unless the service explicitly identifies it as the same job.

Use a ledger with columns for job ID, requested action, shown price, final status, actual balance change and accepted result. Do not publish account identifiers or private prompts in a review.

Convert credits into a useful budget

For a hypothetical 100-unit allowance and an observed 16-unit workflow, the arithmetic upper bound is six complete figures, with four units remaining. This ignores expiry, other usage and failed attempts; it is not a promise of delivered figures.

Add active repair time separately. A low credit bill can still be expensive if every export needs extensive reconstruction. Check current renewal, expiry and export entitlements on each provider’s actual plan page.

State what the review establishes

A single tested figure establishes whether that brief, revision and handoff worked on that date. It does not establish universal scientific accuracy, guaranteed native 4K, or ownership of uploaded third-party assets. Publish the ledger and object inspection alongside any recommendation.
